Mission Statement

Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church is committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ by following the Word, growing in our faith, modeling the life of Christ, and surrendering to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Our Church History

Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church began around 1864 when a small group of believers gathered in faith to share their religious beliefs and worship God. A minister named Rev. Elie Earl who was affiliated with the local railroad helped to form a house of worship for the members.

The first building known as Easley Union Baptist Church was constructed in 1872 and was located on a small lot in the Mayfair Glenwood Mill area. In 1900, land was purchased on Runion Street to provide a new site for a church building, and in 1903, a white wood structure was completed and served as the next official place of worship for the congregation of Easley Union Baptist Church. Some 50 years later in 1954, a new brick structure was erected for worship. This building still stands today with many of the pews and pulpit furniture intact.

In 1978, the current brick structure was built to accommodate approximately 500 parishioners. A mortgage burning ceremony was held twelve (12) years later in 1990. This was an attestation of faith by the congregation.

Throughout the years, Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church has been blessed with pastoral leadership including Rev. Elie Earl, Rev. John T. McKissick, Rev. C. C. Stewart, Rev. Curtis L. Cruell, Rev. Artis J. Bufford, and our current pastor, Dr. James H. Williams. Dr. Williams serves as Senior Pastor, with three Associate Ministers: Minister Connie Brown, Evangelist Amy Bowens- Preston, Minister Carolyn Moore, and Minister Carla Hall.

God is continuing to bless Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church by increasing our faith and allowing us to bless others.
